Worship Opportunities
Greeter for a Month : If you would like to welcome people to worship services and hand out bulletins please contact Ila Mason, 928-1253. Greeters usually serve for one month.
Scripture Reader : Readers read the scripture for the worship service. Contact Ila Mason at 928-1253. Ila will call you when your turn comes up.
Junior Choir : The Junior Choir is temporary idle. The Junior Choir is for students in grades 1 though 8. Rehearsals are Wednesdays from 6:30pm to 7:00pm. The choir is currently inactive. Contact Martha Cable, director, at 929-1282 or just show up for a rehearsal.
Senior Choir : The Senior Choir practices Wednesdays from 7:00pm to 8:00pm. Adults and Teens who want to join the choir should just come to a rehearsal. All voices are needed. The choir sings at the morning worship services.
Hand Bell Choir : Janice Harris directs our Hand Bell Choir. The rehearsal schedule is flexible and the group performs several times during the year. If you want to be a Ringer, contact Janice at 740-398-1647.
Service Opportunities
Sunday School Teacher : Contact Angela Cornett (740-453-8914) if you would like to teach Sunday School. Classes meet every Sunday, 9:30am to 10:20am.
Nursery Helper : Our nursery performs a dual service: first it provides a place for caring for babies; second it provides an educational experience for young children during morning worship.
Vacation Bible School teacher or helper : Our VBS is held for five evenings in July. Teachers and helpers are always needed. Contact Angela Cornett at 740-453-8914.
Coffee Fellowship Host : Coffee Fellowship is held each Sunday following the morning worship service. The host prepares coffee and a soft drink and sets out plates of cookies or other goodies and cleans up afterwards. You may sign up for one Sunday or as many as you like. Contact Penny Slater at 929-1905.
Care and Maintenance : If you are handy with tools and like to get into hands-on projects, contact Steve Webster at 740-323-6254. You will be called when there is a work project that needs your skills and equipment.
Memorials, Honorariums and Gifts
Memorial Gifts are given in memory of someone who has died. Honorariums are given to recognize someone still living. We have several funds that have been set up to cover large or longer term expenses. If you want to give a special gift you may mail it to Connie Wildermuth, financial secretary, at Box 333, Hebron, OH, 43025 or place it in the offering plate. You should designate who you are honoring and which fund you would like to contribute to. You will get a written receipt for your gift. No gifts are too small.
Scholarship Fund: The Carrie B. Hutzel Memorial Scholarship Fund was established to provide scholarship and loans to students who are pursuing a career in Christian Service or other service fields. Ila Mason (928-1253) is the chairman of the scholarship oversight committee.
Building Accessibility Fund : This fund was established for projects that improve the accessibility to our building for the elderly and the disabled. Long term plans include improved restroom facilities, access to the fellowship hall and upgraded parking lots. Maintenance of current accessibility equipment such as the elevator also come out of this fund. Contact Steve Webster 740-323-6254 if you have questions about future projects.
Music Equipment Maintenance Fund : This fund was established for projects that enhance our worship and educational experience. The fund includes new projects such as audio-visual improvements as well as maintenance of hand bells and piano tuning. Contact Steve Webster 740-323-6254 if you have questions about the use of this fund.
Camp/Retreat Fund : This fund was established to help pay for camp and retreat experiences for youth and adults. Most of the money is used to pay camp fees for youth who want to attend summer camps at Camp Christian. Contact Tom McNichols at 323-4600 if you have questions.
Pastor’s Discretionary Fund : This fund was established to give the pastor a way to help someone with temporary financial needs. Most of the fund goes to purchase grocery and gasoline gift cards that Pastor Steve can give to those needing emergency assistance. Contact Connie Wildermuth 928-1871 to help.
Opportunities to Share
Disciples Mission Fund : Four times each year you have the opportunity to give to the Disciples Mission Fund through a special offering. The DMF mission as Disciples is “to be and to share the Good News of Jesus Christ, witnessing, loving and serving from our doorsteps to the ends of the Earth” (Acts 1:8). Gift envelopes are provided on the following special days:
EASTER – for general ministries implementation of Disciples Imperative to strengthen congregational life;
PENTECOST – for new church development, divided equally between the region in which the offering is received and general new church ministry;
THANKSGIVING – for higher education institutions who are responsible for the theological education of the church’s leaders;
CHRISTMAS – for regional ministries in the region where the funds are contributed for implementation of the church’s imperative: “To strengthen congregational life for this mission.”

Week of Compassion : Our week of Compassion Special Offering is collected during the third week of February, but you can give anytime toward this important effort to help those who have lost much to natural and manmade disasters. For more information link to www.weekofcompassion.org
Tools and Blankets Sunday : Our Christian Women’s Fellowship has sponsored this annual special offering for many years. Funds collected go toward Church World Services provide implements, blankets and improved health care to those in need worldwide. LEADS Food Pantry : We have supported the food pantry at the LEADS center in Buckeye Lake for many years. They always need food and health care items. Just leave your donations in the box near the sanctuary door.
Baby Pantry : We support the New Life Community Baby Pantry. Donations may be dropped off at the baby pantry on West Main Street or given to Sharon Scheidegger. There are also opportunities to help at the Baby Pantry. Contact Sharon at 928-5826 or stop in at the pantry.
Heartbeats of Licking County : We support the work of Heartbeats of Licking County through their Bottles For Life program, raising money for ultrasound equipment and services. Contact Ila Mason 928-1253.
Christian Women’s Fellowship Projects . The CWF will conduct several special projects each year to help those in need. Contact Ila Mason (928-1253) if you want to learn more and help with their latest effort. The Women's Breakfast Club coordinates several collection and recycling projects such as paper, bottle caps and coupons.
Women's Breakfast Club: The Saturday breakfast club has adopted the following charities that collect items commonly found around the house. You can bring items to the church and leave them in the small basket by the sanctuary door. The women will sort them and see that they are given to the correct charity. There are also collection baskets in the fellowship hall.
Pop Tabs: The tabs from pop cans are collected to raise money for Ronald McDonald House.
Yoplait Yogurt Lids: The foil lids from Yoplait yogurt lids are each worth 10 cents towards breast cancer outreach.
Coupons: Expired coupons are given to Marine Corps families in Japan to be used for up to six months beyond their expiration date.
Stamps: Cancelled stamps are forwarded to the DAR where they are used to help wounded service personnel.
Paper recycling: Paper goods are given to another local church to help fund their mission projects.
Coats for Kids : Our Youth Fellowship collects coats each fall for the county-wide Coats for Kids drive. Watch for collection dates in the church newsletter. Coats of all sizes and weights are needed. They should be in good condition. Contact Lisa McNichols (323-4600) for more information.
Adopt a Teen : Our Youth Fellowship also adopts two teen (a boy and a girl) each Christmas to help the teen and his or her family put something under the Christmas tree. The kids collect money and shop for their adopted teen. Contact Lisa McNichols (323-4600) if you would like to give a donation.
Operation Christmas Child : The Friendly Class prepares gift boxes for the annual Operation Christmas Child drive each November. Contact Dave Dernberger (928-0511) for more information.

Gordon Food Service : GFS will credit the church for any purchases. This gives us additional discounts which improves the purchasing power of our money. When you check out ask them to credit Hebron Christian Church.
Capital Tithe: The board approved increasing each capital project (major repairs such as the roof) by 10% with the tithe going to a service project or organization outside of the local church. When you give to support one of the major facilities projects you are also giving to others.
Estate Planning
Have you considered leaving part of your estate to the church? You can include Hebron Christian Church or the church at large in your will. You can designate a special fund if you wish. Contact Connie Wildermuth, financial sec, 928-1871.
Investment Opportunities
Board of Church Extension : The Board of Church Extension is the agency within the Christian Church (Disciples of Christ) that loans money to establish new churches and to make significant improvements to existing churches. BCE offers investment opportunities paying favorable interest rates. For example they offer 36-month notes at 4.8% interest. You can invest as low as $100.
