The worship service on All Saints' Sunday was opened with a prayerful service honoring those in our extended church family who passed on to eternal life during the last year. As each name was read a bell was tolled and a family member or friend came forward and lit a candle in their memory. Those honored were: Maribel Neel, John D. Slater, Robert W. Slater, Tom Darling, Dave Smith, Shirley Erwin, Donna Kraner, Ken Minkler, Bonnie Snyder, Melva Stollard, Rocky Campbell, Greg Vest, Jim Webster, Tressie Klingler, Gail Baughman, Charles Vanarsdale, Nancy Rolfe, Renee Ray, Dan Cordray, Eileen Stalter, Donald Snavely, Linda Lowe, Becky Warthman, and Ruth Popham.
The Youth Fellowship led the worship service on Sunday, October 30. We have a tradition of youth-led services each time a month has five Sundays. More than a dozen youth participated. Tom and Lisa McNichols are the youth advisors.
The Youth Fellowship is selling hot/cold drink cups as a fund raiser (shown below). Cost is $8 each. Cups are dishwasher safe. Lids fit tightly. Straw has a collar on the bottom to prevent it from falling out of the cup. Contact any youth to get your Hebron Christian Church cup.
The Young Adults with help from the youth fellowship led the worship service on July 31. Great job!
CJ Klein is attending Chi Rho Camp Hocking at Camp Christian.
Our road frontage was lined with yard sale items for the National Road Yard Sale on Saturday, June 4. Thanks to the eight families who rented table space. We all had a good time visiting, the weather was perfect and the customers were buying.

Congratulations to Kirsten Walker, our 2011 Mother of the Year. Kirsten, her husband Ty and boys, Taylor and Logan, moved here from Texas last year. Kirsten is active in the Sunday School and Children's Sunday Worship. She was presented with the Mother's Bible and her name will be on a plaque in the library. Again, congratulations!
Doris Cordray will celebrate her 98th birthday on April 8. You may send cards to her at 425 Senior Drive East, Apt 6, Newark, OH 43055. Doris is our eldest member and served as our church organist for many years.
Ty Walker was elected as an elder and John W. Slater as vice-chairman of the board at a special congregational meeting on Sunday, March 27. Both offices were vacant at the time of the Annual Congregational Meeting. There were no other items on the agenda.

Winter Bible School was a success even though two of the six sessions were cancelled due to inclement weather. From 12 to 20 people attended each session covering cooking, making visitors welcome, dealing with aging, and sharing games. All ages were represented. The Christian Education committee thanks everyone who attended, all session leaders and those who prepared food. We already have several topics suggested for next year's Winter Bible School.
The Youth Fellowship earned $54 from Applebee's. Thanks to everyone who participated. The next Applebee's dinner night is February 20. Watch our web site for the dinner flyer.
Thanks to the Youth Fellowship for pulling an "all-nighter" to put up all of the decorations for Advent and Christmas. They did an excellent job and the church is ready to celebrate the Christmas season.
Two exciting accomplishments: The Friendly Class, with the help of the congregation, collected items for 35 gift boxes for Operation Christmas Child. The boxes were delivered to the community collection point at the Buckeye Lake Community Church where they were put with other donations and shipped to the regional collection center. These gift boxes will join 7.5 million others going to boys and girls around the world. Our Youth Fellowshipcollected a record 81 coats for kids (and adults) in their annual Coats-For-Kids drive. Thanks to everyone who donated to these causes.
About 25 people enjoyed hot dogs cooked over an open fire at the annual Harvest Party. Pastor Steve and Jeannie Koehler defended their horseshoe title for the second year beating teams of Randy Fisher and Rick Coakley and David Dernberger and CJ Klein. Lots of fun and fellowship. Following the meeting the Youth Fellowship held their annual Scroll Service and election of officers. Wow! People sure love a challenge...or perhaps enjoy having someone else pay. We collected 299 items on Sunday in response to the challenge to match each item with a 50-cent donation. Thanks to everyone who filled the shopping cart to overflowing. And thanks also to the challenger who gave us $150 which will be used to purchase needed food items.
Over 30 people enjoyed pancake and ice cream sundaes during the Rally Day open house. There were games, crafts and lots of fellowship. Sunday school classes meet every Sunday from 9:30 to 10:20am. Click on the Christian Education tab at the left for more information.
VBS 2010 is over! And a good time was had by all.
Forty-one students registered. Thirty adult and youth leaders and helpers worked to make the week a meaningful experience. Over $127 was raised for the Special Olympics which is enough to sponsor four special Olympians. The VBS provided special music and a skit for morning worship on July 25.
Thanks also to Angela Cornett for designing, writing and directing our Vacation Bible School. Thanks to everyone who helped during VBS and behind the sceenes..Also a special “Thank You” to Michael Stewart and Loretta Stewart for sharing their Special Olympic experiences with us.
Check in the photo section for pictures.
Congratulations to our 2010 Mother of the Year, Loretta Stewart. Loretta will hold the Mother's Bible for the next year. Her name has been added to the plaque in the library.

Youth Fellowship Pancake Brunch Following Worship February 12 Donations accepted to help pay church camp fees. The youth will be collecting donations of supplies like syrup and pancake mix. Watch for the request form on the table near the sanctuary door.
The Year-Long Food Drive is a success! We have collected 4420 items through the last Sunday of the year, which is 10% over our goal of 4000. Thanks to everyone who donated food or money. Buckeye Lake LEADS has thanked us many times. Donations such as these help them fill gaps in the food supplied through official channels. Information provided by LEADS suggests that 4420 items equates to three-day emergency rations for 275 families of four or 9900 individual meals. The folks who received help are also grateful. Again, thanks to all from the Teen Sunday School Class.
